First – what this post isn’t. It isn’t about piercings, expensive jewelry or someone whispering sweet nothings. If those things make you happier, then have as much of them in your life as you can. But that’s not what I mean in this post. In this post, I want you to get happier by using your ears. How?
Listen to your favorite music.
Music – it’s the soundtrack to our best memories, and is a powerful way for you to change your attitude. When you’re not feeling very happy, music can transform your moment, your attitude, and your day.
Ever felt grumpy, and then your favorite song came on? Ever been bored until you let the music carry you for a while? Ever heard a song for the first time and it captured your heart, your mind and your body so much you had to listen to it over and over and over again. (Guilty, on way more than one occasion!)
It doesn’t matter what your favorite music is, it only matters that it’s your favorite, and that you enjoy it, and that you allow it to transform you for a little while.
Leo Tolstoy observed, “Music is the shorthand of emotion.”
According to Plato, “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.”
And Bob Marley said “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” (Yeah, you’re right – he was known for his other way of feeling no pain, too!)
Your favorite music takes away your pain, leads you to a higher emotional plane, and brings charm and gaiety to your life. Don’t believe me, Plato, Leo and Bob? Prove it to yourself, right now.
Crank it up!
